DC Tried to Lure Kevin Feige Away From Marvel After JUSTICE LEAGUE Mess — GeekTyrant

Jul 17, 2025

Imagine an alternate timeline where Kevin Feige, the architect of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, jumped ship to DC. Sounds wild, right? But apparently, it DC tried to made that happen!According to a new report from The Wall Street Journal, Warner Bros. reached out to Feige after Justice League crashed and burned at the box office. In the wake of Zack Snyder’s exit and the studio’s ongoing identity crisis, WB was desperate to stabilize their DC film universe. Sources told WSJ that WB met with Feige to discuss the possibility of him leading DC’s film division. “The talks between Feige and Warner Bros. ‘fizzled,’” the report says. No big deal, just a casual attempt to snatch the guy who launched a pop culture empire with Iron Man in 2008 and wrapped it in style with Avengers: Endgame. Marvel has been struggling since then, though. While it’s unclear how serious the discussions were, the fact that Feige even took the meeting is fascinating. He may have just been playing it polite, but this was also around the time he was closing out the Infinity Saga. Maybe he was entertaining the idea of handing the reins to someone else at Marvel and starting fresh with DC. Who knows… creative control, salary, long-term plans, any one of those could’ve been a dealbreaker. And really, can you blame WB for trying? After Man of Steel sparked mixed reactions and Batman v Superman divided audiences despite nearly hitting $900 million, the studio was scrambling for direction. Justice League sealed the deal as it was a financial and creative mess, and DC needed a miracle worker.Fast forward to now: James Gunn, another Marvel vet, is officially in charge of the DCU and has already fans excited with his Superman reboot. Gunn’s plans seem big, cohesive, and full of personality, something DC has sorely lacked. Meanwhile, Feige remains at Marvel, and has been tryng to fix their own issues and get back on track with two massive Avengers films slated for 2026 and 2027.What happens after that? I’m sure Feige will stick around. I’ll be shocked if he ever actually steps aside. Regardless, Feige hasn’t ruled out the idea of a Marvel and DC crossover someday, especially now that his pal Gunn is steering the ship over at DC. Maybe the next frontier is collaboration.
