Marvel Rumored to be Eyeing Adam Driver for Mister Fantastic in Fantastic Four Reboot
Dec 26, 2022
Could Adam Driver join the MCU as Reed Richards in Fantastic Four?
Another day, another Marvel rumor. This latest word churned out by the rumor mill claims that Marvel Studios has met with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and House of Gucci star Adam Driver for the Fantastic Four reboot. Speaking with The Hot Mic Podcast, The Ankler’s Jeff Sneider claims that Marvel is eyeing the Academy Award-nominated actor for the role of Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic. However, there have also been whispers that Driver could slip on a metal mask for the villain of the piece, Doctor Doom, as well.
Now, Sneider does quickly note that the rumors surrounding Driver and his ties with the Fantastic Four come from an “unproven” source, though he has chosen “to believe this person because it smells right to [him].” So, while you will want to be ready with the salt for this particular rumor, the idea of Adam Driver as either Reed Richards or Doctor Doom would certainly make sense.

Driver, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for BlacKkKlansman and Best Actor for Marriage Story, has become well-known for his burning intensity. An attribute that would work well for either the super-intelligent Mister Fantastic or the authoritarian ruler Doctor Doom. Driver is far just brooding, however, with the actor having demonstrated his affinity for comedy as well in the likes of Logan Lucky and The Dead Don’t Die. An affinity that would surely come in handy when dealing with the more light-hearted nature of both the Fantastic Four and the MCU at large.
Would you like to see Adam Driver join the Marvel Cinematic Universe? And do you think he would be better suited for Mister Fantastic or Doctor Doom?
Would You Prefer John Krasinski Reprise the Role of Mister Fantastic?
Marvel Studios
Of course, while there have been several rumors regarding who could play Mister Fantastic when the character returns for the Fantastic Four standalone outing, many are still hoping that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star John Krasinski will reprise the role.
One such fan is Krasinski’s wife, Emily Blunt, who hopes to see the actor once again don the blue suit and stretchy parts. “I was really happy for him because I think he’s a huge fan,” Blunt said recently. “And I understand why it’s such an ardent passionate religion for people. It’s a huge part of our cinematic history now. So he was thrilled… Well, I hope [we can see him in the role again]. I hope so. You never know.”
While the Fantastic Four cast has yet to be revealed, the MCU movie has finally found its creative team, with WandaVision director Matt Shakman set to be at the helm working from a script by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer.
Fantastic Four is scheduled to be released in the United States on November 8, 2024, and will be a part of Phase Six of the MCU alongside Deadpool 3, which is due for release on November 8, 2024, as well as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (May 2, 2025) and Avengers: Secret Wars (May 1, 2026). As for Adam Driver, the actor has several projects in the pipeline, including the apocalyptic black comedy White Noise; the sci-fi movie 65; and the Enzo Ferrari biopic, Ferrari.
