Yosemite-Set Western Thriller Series Starring Eric Bana Debuts July 17
Jun 16, 2025
What dangers lurk in a legendary national park? A mysterious death unleashes secrets on the Netflix series “Untamed.” The mystery-thriller finds Kyle Turner, a National Park Service Investigative Services Branch Special Agent, tackling the current crime while addressing his own past. Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith serve as co-showrunners on “Untamed.” The former’s previous creation, “American Primeval,” garnered praise after its Netflix debut.
Yosemite takes center stage in the project, something both showrunners highlighted while speaking to Tudum. “Everyone thinks of Yosemite as this beautiful place with all the vistas and all the scenery, but we were trying to touch on the dangers that are just beyond that,” Mark L. Smith said. “We get to understand what this job is, and see the beauty of the park, but also the dangers,” co-showrunner Elle Smith noted.
“Untamed” features an impressive cast, led by Eric Bana. He was last seen in the 2024 psychological thriller “A Sacrifice.” The upcoming series sees Bana joined by veteran performer Sam Neill. It was just announced that Neill will be joining the anticipated Monsterverse entry “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.” Lily Santiago, Rosemary DeWitt, and Wilson Bethel also star in “Untamed.”
The series’ official synopsis:
“A character-driven mystery-thriller that follows Kyle Turner (played by Bana), a special agent for the National Parks Service who works to enforce human law in nature’s vast wilderness. The investigation of a brutal death sends Turner on a collision course with the dark secrets within the park, and in his own past.”
