‘Landman’ Season 2 Trailer Sets Return Date for Taylor Sheridan’s Record Breaking Hit
Sep 6, 2025
Landman is heading back to Paramount+ this November, and fans can prepare for Taylor Sheridan’s next chart-topper with the first full trailer for Season 2. Landman joined the several Paramount+ shows created by Sheridan in 2024, a new series not linked to his Yellowstone franchise but pulling in the same crowd who just can’t get enough of his neo-Western dramas. The Season 1 premiere landed the biggest viewing figures of any series debut on the platform, which was then overtaken just a few months later by another Sheridan baby, 1923. Based on the law of averages, it would be foolish to bet against Landman reclaiming its crown in a couple of months’ time.
Season 2 has plenty of unanswered questions to deal with, and will likely be asking plenty more as Sheridan’s sagas are rarely done after just two seasons. The new season will once again be led by Billy Bob Thornton, Ali Larter, and Demi Moore, who will be joined by Andy Garcia, Sam Elliott, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan, and Colm Feore. Created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace, Landman is inspired by Wallace’s podcast “Boomtown,” and stars Thornton as Tommy Norris, an old-school landman for an oil company.
‘Landman’ Season 2 Sees Some Big Changes
While Taylor Sheridan usually likes to keep his fingers deep in all of his pies, he will be taking a bit of a back seat with Landman Season 2. The Yellowstone mastermind wrote Season 1 and directed several episodes, but he will not be directing any of Season 2, with Stephen Kay taking over full directing duties. Ali Larter shared her thoughts on Kay expanding his role from co-director this time around. She said:
“[Stephen] is directing all 10 episodes this year. Last year, Michael Friedman directed three; Stephen directed, I think, five; and Taylor directed a couple. That being said, Taylor would come in and direct all my stuff because he loves forming these characters and he wants them big and bold.”
Every creator wants to have the final say in their work, but when you have been spinning as many plates as Sheridan, then at some point something has to give. As well as Landman, there are two Yellowstone sequel/spinoffs currently in production and new seasons of Tulsa King, Mayor of Kingstown, and Lioness coming down the line. This means that while Sheridan may be stretching himself a bit thin, his fans are guaranteed to be watching his characters for some time to come.
