Murder mysteries are all the rage right now, thanks to Rian Johnson’s “Knives Out” and Kenneth Branagh’s Agatha Christie adaptations. Combine that with the world’s love of true-crime in recent years, and you have a public craving for any and all murders on screen. Knowing that, Prime Video is ready to release a new limited series that combines the world’s love of mysterious homicide and a charismatic detective figuring things out with the new series, “Three Pines.”

As seen in the new trailer for “Three Pines,” Alfred Molina stars as Chief Inspector Gamache, the character from a series of novels by author Louise Penny, as he ventures to the quiet town of Three Pines to investigate the mysterious death of a woman in broad daylight. While there, a couple more bodies turn up, and the investigator has to put his detective skills to the test to figure out who might be killing all of these people in such a small village.
According to the official synopsis, the series “interweaves a dark, mysterious, serial story, which uncovers police failings to properly investigate cases of missing Indigenous women, as well as corruption at the heart of the provincial Sûreté du Québec police force.”
As mentioned, “Three Pines” stars Molina as the lead. He’s joined by folks such as Rossif Sutherland, Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers, and Sarah Booth in the cast. The series is written by Emilia di Girolamo, who serves as the lead writer, alongside Catherine Tregenna. The eight-episode series is directed by Sam Donovan, Tracey Deer, and Daniel Grou.
“Three Pines” is set to debut on Prime Video on December 2. You can watch the trailer below:
