The latest trailer for Black Adam offers a further glimpse at Dwayne Johnson as the DC antihero.

Warner Bros. Pictures

The latest trailer for Black Adam should increase the excitement among comic book movie fans for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s long-awaited DC debut. Released courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures, Black Adam will introduce the action movie superstar as the antihero Black Adam, with Johnson having teased for some time that the hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about the change. You can check out the new trailer for Black Adam below.

Dwayne Johnson has been signed on to portraying Black Adam since as far back as 2007, with the actor committed to playing the antihero for some time to come. And all while expanding his own Black Adam universe. “I am 100% committed to not only Black Adam but then expanding the Black Adam universe, the DC universe,” he said recently. “I am an optimist from the word, ‘Go.’ So, to me and to all of us up here, all universes exist in our heads.”

He continued, assuring fans that he will be listening out for what they want to see. “I will, we all will, work very hard to make sure we are honoring the mythology but also giving the fans what they want. I hear the fans, we all do, and I pick up everything they’re putting down. It doesn’t get by me, it doesn’t get by these guys [producer Hiram Garcia, producer Beau Flynn, director Jaume Collet-Serra]. This is the beginning, hopefully, fingers crossed, of a very long storytelling road that Black Adam is the anchoring jet fuel now that will then push and press this universe out.”

Black Adam Will Finally Make His Big Screen Debut in October

Warner Bros. Pictures

Black Adam will find Dwayne Johnson starring as Teth-Adam AKA Black Adam, an antihero from Kahndaq who is imprisoned for 5,000 years. After casting off the shackles of enslavement, Teth-Adam is chosen by the wizard Shazam to harness the powers of the ancient Egyptian Gods. S for the stamina of Shu, H for the swiftness of Horus, A for the strength of Amon, Z for the wisdom of Zehuti, A for the power of Aten, and M for the courage of Mehen, Black Adam goes on to become the archenemy of the superhero Shazam and his super-powered family.

Alongside Johnson’s title character, Black Adam will introduce audiences to the Justice Society of America. A superhero team made up of Aldis Hodge as Carter Hall AKA Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Albert “Al” Rothstein AKA Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Maxine Hunkel AKA Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan as Kent Nelson AKA Doctor Fate, the JSA will attempt to convince Black Adam to join them and use his powers for good. Unfortunately for them, it seems that Black Adam will have his own ideas for how best to dispense truth, justice, and all that other stuff.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, written by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani, Black Adam also stars Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, Mohammed Amer, Viola Davis, James Cusati-Moyer and Uli Latukefu.

Black Adam is scheduled to be released in the United States on October 21, 2022, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
