The reboot of Buffy The Vampire Slayer
has finally found its new lead in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew and Stephen King’s Firestarter actress Ryan Kiera Armstrong
.
While the new show has yet to receive a title, and Armstrong’s character’s name has not yet been revealed, she will appear alongside original vampire slayer Sarah Michelle Gellar, who is reprising her role as Buffy Summers in the new take on the iconic property. Chloé Zhao is directing the pilot episode, which is penned by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman. Making the announcement, Gellar said:
“I want to introduce you to [Ryan Kiera Armstrong]. From the moment I saw Ryan’s audition, I knew there was only one girl that I wanted by my side. To have that kind of emotional intelligence , and talent, at such a young age is truly a gift. The bonus is that her smile lights up even the darkest room. Welcome to #NewSunnydale #btvs”
Gellar also recorded a video of her breaking the news to 15-year-old Armstrong that she got the part.
“I’m so honored, thank you for trusting me,” Armstrong said, crying as Gellar told her the news. Lilla and Nora Zuckerman had their own words of praise for the young star, using some well-worn words from Buffy’s universe to add their hype to the youngster’s casting. They said:
“We are so overjoyed to have found this generation’s slayer in Ryan Kiera Armstrong, she absolutely blew us away — there is no question in our mind that she is the chosen one.”

After years off air, Buffy is finally coming back to us. Here are all the details.

Who is New ‘Buffy’ Star Ryan Kiera Armstrong?
Saban Films
Ryan Kiera Armstrong is a name that may sound familiar to some, and having been working as an actress since the age of 8, you have probably seen one or two of the big projects she has been a part of. Some of her biggest roles have included parts in It: Chapter Two, The Tomorrow War, and Marvel’s Black Widow.
However, she became best known as the girl who almost took down the Razzies, after the awards made the terrible error of nominating the then-12-year-old as worst actress for her role in the 2022 remake of Stephen King’s Firestarter. The backlash against the decision, which many saw as a cruel and unnecessary jab at the youngster, saw the Razzies remove her nomination and issue an apology, while many called for the whole awards ceremony to be scrapped.
Despite that, Armstrong certainly hasn’t suffered or allowed that moment to define her. She has since had roles in the movies Wildflower, The Old Way (with Nicolas Cage) and appeared in all episodes of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew with Jude Law. Now, heading into what will potentially be the biggest role of her career, the name Ryan Kiera Armstrong is one that you are probably going to hear a lot more about in the future.
