Sci-Fi Horror Spinoff Series Debuting August 12

May 13, 2025

We’ve been waiting for the debut of Noah Hawley‘s “Alien: Earth” series for ages, and we now know when the sci-fi horror spinoff series focusing on the deep space research vessel USCSS Maginot (housing all sorts of deadly alien species) crash-lands on Earth will debut. The highly anticipated next chapter in the beloved “Alien” universe will have a two-episode premiere on August 12.
FX was also nice enough to share with The Playlist a batch of new images from “Alien: Earth,” finally highlighting the cast of the show, which includes Sydney Chandler (Wendy), Timothy Olyphant (Kirsh), Alex Lawther (Hermit), Samuel Blenkin (Boy Kavalier), Babou Ceesay (Morrow), Adrian Edmondson (Atom Eins), David Rysdahl (Arthur Sylvia), Essie Davis (Dame Sylvia), Lily Newmark (Nibs), Erana James (Curly), Adarsh Gourav (Slightly), Jonathan Ajayi (Smee), Kit Young (Tootles), Diêm Camille (Siberian), Moe Bar-El (Rashidi) and Sandra Yi Sencindiver (Yutani).
Many of those character names were obviously influenced by “Peter Pan.”

Taking place in 2120, before the events of the original “Alien” but after the Ridley Scott prequels, Earth is now governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold. Those five entities are focused on jockeying for power between those corporate factions, who might be just as dangerous as the Xenomorphs. As Weyland-Yutani has wanted for ages to get their hands on them for their bio-weapons program.
More details on the “Alien: Earth” release, it will premiere on Tuesday, August 12, with the first two episodes available to stream on Hulu at 8 p.m. ET and on the FX linear channel at 8 p.m. ET/PT, and on Disney+ internationally (regions such as Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand and more). A new episode of the 8-episode season will premiere each following Tuesday on Hulu beginning at 8 p.m. ET and on FX at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

How exactly the new series will impact the lore or future films has yet to be revealed.
An “Alien: Romulus” sequel is in the works from filmmaker Fede Álvarez, and the recent trailer for “Predator: Badlands” confirmed that the film will link to the “Alien” universe via Weyland-Yutani, as star Elle Fanning is expected to be playing a Weyland-Yutani android.
You can take a look at those new images from “Alien: Earth” below and get pumped for the show’s arrival in August.
