New Teen Drama Based On Young Adult Bestseller Hits Prime Video On June 18

Need a new teen drama to tide you over before the fifth and final season of “Outer Banks“? Well, Prime Video‘s “We Were Liars” may fit the bill, as it’s another coastal-set tale of teens getting up to no good.

Based on the bestseller by E. Lockhart, “We Were Liars” follows a tight-knit crew of teenagers whose summer on a private island in New England goes sideways after a mysterious accident.

We Were Liars follows Cadence Sinclair Eastman and her tight-knit inner circle, nicknamed the Liars, during their summer escapades on her grandfather’s New England private island. The Sinclairs are American royalty—known for their good looks, old money, and enviable bond—but after a mysterious accident changes Cadence’s life forever, everyone, including her beloved Liars, seems to have something to hide.

“We Were Liars” stars: Emily Alyn Lind, Shubham Maheshwari, Esther McGregor,and Joseph Zada. Caitlin FitzGerald, Mamie Gummer, and Candice King also star. Rahul Kohli and David Morse round out the main cast.

Julie Plec and Carina Adly MacKenzie serve as showrunners on “We Were Liars,” and also co-write and executive produce the series. Other executive producers include Emily Cummins via My So-Called Company, Brett Matthews, Pascal Verschooris, and E. Lockhart. “We Were Liars” is a Universal Television and Amazon MGM Studios co-production.

All eight episodes of “We Were Liars” premiere on Prime Video on June 18. Watch a trailer for the new teen series below.
