Luke Cage & Iron Fist Actors Tease MCU Return in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2
May 31, 2025
Social media can spark a lot of speculation, and it’s doing just that due to social media posts from two former Marvel stars. They’re both currently in New York City, where Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is being filmed. It’s no coincidence that they have portrayed characters that could transition into the MCU, especially since some of their other “Defenders” have also made the move. Have enough subtle hints been dropped? Let’s dive in! Per The Direct, fans are going crazy over the fact that Finn Jones, who portrayed Iron Fist during Netflix’s Marvel run, and Mike Colter, who served as Luke Cage during the Marvel Netflix streaming era, are both in New York City, where the second season of Daredevil: Born Again is currently filming. Nothing is official, but Colter posted an image of the New York City skyline on his Instagram story, while Jones posted a photo on his Instagram page that Colter commented on. With Krysten Ritter returning as Jessica Jones for the Disney+ Daredevil series, some fans think that a full-fledged Defenders reunion could be in the cards.
When Did We Last See Finn Jones and Mike Colter in the Marvel Universe?
It has been a while since we’ve seen Finn Jones and Mike Colter portray their Marvel characters. They were both last featured together in the 2017 The Defenders miniseries, which co-starred Krysten Ritter and Charlie Cox. The Defenders was well-received by critics, registering a 78% on Rotten Tomatoes with a consensus that reads, “Marvel’s The Defenders further develops well-known characters in an action-packed arc whose payoff packs more than enough of a punch to offset its flaws.” Despite the warm reception of the miniseries, the individual shows for both actors weren’t equally matched.

Marvel’s The Defenders Saga in Order: How to Watch Chronologically and by Release Date
The Defenders Saga includes seven combined series and 166 episodes of television. That’s a lot to sort through, so here is the ultimate watch guide.
Colter’s Luke Cage, which ran for two seasons and 26 episodes, received solid reviews from critics, with Season 1 hitting a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes while Season 2 registered an 85%. Colter garnered strong notices for his performance as the titular character, and it was mostly received positively by Marvel fans. On the other hand, Jones’ show, Iron Fist, which ran two seasons and 23 episodes, received its fair share of criticism. The first season scored a dismal 20% on Rotten Tomatoes, while Season 2 improved to 55% on the aggregator site. Jones’ portrayal was particularly nitpicked by critics and fans, although he did receive better reviews for his turn in The Defenders and during his appearance in Luke Cage. However, with the passage of time, fans may be able to forgive the Iron Fist shortcomings and want a full-on reunion of all of these characters. The desire is there because both actors want to return and, with Ritter already back and Cox headlining his own Marvel show again, it’s very possible that all four old-school Defenders could be joining the ranks of the MCU.
