Summary
Evelyn Lozada and Jennifer Williams’ friendship deteriorated in 2018 due to hurtful rumors.
Jennifer’s marriage with Christian Gold caused tension among Basketball Wives cast members.
Evelyn is focusing on personal ventures and moving forward without repairing the friendship with Jennifer.
The current season of Basketball Wives has chronicled the nasty backlash from a former close friendship gone sour. Evelyn Lozada and Jennifer Williams’ friendship was one of the staples of Basketball Wives when the reality show premiered in Miami during 2010. Evelyn, the ex-fiance’ of ball player Antoine Walker – and Jennifer Williams, the estranged wife at the time of NBA player Eric Williams, were immediately the resident Miami “it girls”. From the beginning, Evelyn was a firecracker, a proud, beautiful Latina with an uncharacteristically quick wit and charisma. Jennifer resembled a black Barbie doll located in Miami with a Los Angeles valley girl accent and a penchant for being around the finer things in life. Evelyn was the more outspoken between the two, with Jennifer adopting the role of a loyal support system, echoing Evelyn’s thoughts and feelings on most issues. The pair were often accused of being mean girls toward the other women on the show, but their allegiance to one another meant the accusations fell for the most part on deaf ears. And now, their friendship cannot be repaired, according to Evelyn’s recent chat with Collider.

While the series became infamous for cat fights and blow-ups, Evelyn and Jennifer remained somewhat solid until 2018. Some fans suspected Jennifer must’ve been jealous of Evelyn, or had to have some form of resentment because her role was consistently the supporting cast in the friendship and never the main role. During a petty gossip session, Evelyn was informed that Jennifer had been talking recklessly about her daughterm Shaniece. BOSSIP claimed former cast mate, Malaysia Pargo, accused Jennifer of saying Shaniece “slept around” all over Miami, and had plastic surgery, and that Evelyn condoned her behavior. The ultimate insult to injury happened when BBW queen bee Shaunie O’Neal confirmed Malaysia’s claims. It was the first time a wedge had been driven between the friends, and it was extremely volatile. Jennifer skipped out on the reunion that season, but barely made it out of that scene without being beat up. According to Evelyn, although the ladies attempted to re-connect after five years, she knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that she could never trust Jennifer the same. “Jennifer was around Shaniece when she was little. She watched her grow up. For her to speak about my daughter like that, I knew I would never trust her again,” Evelyn explained.

Against All Odds, Jennifer Is Sticking by Her Man
Jennifer taking her vows seriously
Jennifer didn’t have Evelyn’s complete trust, but the two former besties attempted to be cordial for the sake of the Basketball Wives re-boot, but their truce failed miserably. Evelyn says she was genuinely worried about Jennifer last year when she announced she was dating Christian Gold. “I reached out to her off camera. I tried to call her several times because I wanted to talk to her about what I was hearing. She never answered the phone, so we had the conversation on the show,” Evelyn says. E velyn wasn’t the only co-star that attempted to warn Jennifer about her now-husband Christian, but everyone received the same treatment. Against her cast mates’ better judgement, Jennifer married Christian in late summer 2024. The women found out Jennifer was married via social media. During the “Friendsgiving” episode this season, Evelyn revealed that Jennifer’s marriage wasn’t legally binding. She also revealed that one of her ex’s family members was a victim of Christian’s investment fraud. Unwilling to listen to or acknowledge Evelyn’s revelations, Jennifer got up from the table and left the dinner. “I realized that we are just very different. We want different things out of life. We’re going in completely different directions. There is no way we could be friends. At this point in our lives, we don’t have anything in common,” Evelyn says when asked if she could ever see herself attempting to rekindle the friendship with Jennifer. “Not every friendship is supposed to last a lifetime.” Jennifer has clapped back with some shade of her own directed at Evelyn’s grandchild’s father, rapper The Game. “She keeps talking about felons and things. Isn’t her grandchild’s father a felon?” Jennifer questioned on her social media platform. Fans have suggested that Jennifer realizes the only way to get to Evelyn is to attack her daughter, which she has done repeatedly. BBW wives didn’t take kindly to Jennifer throwing stones at Shaniece back in 2018 and they haven’t changed their minds. Most BBW fans have thrown their own shade at Jennifer’s situation with her husband, Christian Gold, and his criminal allegations.

Evelyn is moving forward and focusing on her personal endeavors and real circle of support. She and her daughter Shaniece have a podcast titled, Drop the Lo, where they have unfiltered, entertaining conversations. She also has an Only Fans page where she shares exclusive content for her die-hard fans. “No, I’m not doing anything sexual or anything like that,” she laughs. “It’s just behind the scenes stuff. I may have on a bathing suit or something. I work hard to take care of my body, and I think I look good, so as long as I look good I’m fine sharing things like that.” Moving forward, the relationship with Jennifer is a non-factor for Evelyn. She says she is focused on friendships that more closely align with where she is today in life. Her focus today is on her career, her daughter and her adorable grandson, who she says has stolen her heart. Watch the full interview above and on our YouTube channel.
