Netflix’s ‘One Piece’ Season 2 Gets New Trailer And Season 3 Renewal
Aug 12, 2025
There has been plenty of build-up leading to it, and it’s finally here— the first full-length trailer for Netflix’s One Piece Season 2 has been released, and it features plenty of first looks at iconic characters, locations, and events from Eiichiro Oda’s iconic and best-selling manga of the same name. Filming for One Piece Season 2 started back in June 2024, with plenty of behind-the-scenes promotional videos and teasers released to get fans of the anime and manga excited for the live-action versions of iconic characters, such as Tony Tony Chopper. Along with the thrilling new footage, this new trailer has also brought some exciting news: a third season is officially on the way. The new trailer for the second season of One Piece was released as part of the One Piece Day celebration in Japan, an event created to commemorate the manga’s creation in 1997. While the trailer (which can be viewed below) is brief, it features plenty of snippets of some highly anticipated characters. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and the Straw Hat Pirates’ adventures in the Grand Line are just getting started, as they encounter characters like the Giants, the enigmatic Miss All Sunday (Lera Abova), and the Navy Captain Smoker (Callum Kerr). There’s plenty to be excited about, as Season 2 looks to be an ambitious step-up while remaining loyal to the source material. Interestingly, this new season of Netflix’s manga adaptation appears to have been given a subtitle, as indicated by the logo at the end of the trailer, which reads One Piece: Into the Grand Line. It’s unknown at this point if every season of One Piece will receive a different subtitle, but there is always potential. Especially since the trailer ended with a title card that stated Season 3 would “set sail soon.”
Netflix’s ‘One Piece’ Will Tell an Epic Story Across Seasons 2 & 3
Given that it’s been such a long wait (almost two years) since the release of Netflix’s One Piece Season 1, it’s no surprise that two more seasons have been confirmed. There has been plenty of speculation about the large scope of the production for season two, with rumors circulating that seasons two and three were filmed back-to-back. While those rumors would eventually be debunked, one prominent actor from the series revealed that there was indeed a brief break between filming seasons, and that the third season would begin production later this year. Despite the Season 3 renewal being a poorly-kept secret, it’s still an exciting announcement nonetheless. One Piece Season 2 is set to adapt the first half of the massive Baroque Works/Alabasta saga from the manga, which features the Straw Hats confronting a massive criminal conspiracy involving a manufactured civil war in a nation plagued by political turmoil. Luffy and his crew visit plenty of exciting new locales along the way, some of which are teased in the trailer, such as Whiskey Peak, a friendly island that isn’t as it seems. Eiichiro Oda’s massive 100-plus volume manga is still ongoing, though the mangaka revealed a couple of years ago that the series is headed towards its conclusion with an explosive final saga. It will be interesting to see how much Netflix and Tomorrow Studios ultimately adapt. Moreover, these upcoming story arcs in Seasons 2 and 3 will prove to be an indicator of how faithfully the streaming service will bring the One Piece manga and its large-scale battles and heartfelt stories to life.
