Woman of Tomorrow’ Gets a Super Production Update From Lead Star Milly Alcock

May 27, 2025

After two years of waiting since James Gunn’s original DC Studios announcement video, the DCU is finally heading to the big screen with Superman this summer. But the new movie, starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, isn’t the only upcoming DC project to swiftly fly through production, as the DCU’s next big film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, just got a gigantic production update from its leading star, Milly Alcock. The House of the Dragon star plays the titular hero in Woman of Tomorrow, after making her DCU debut in Superman this July. Supergirl only entered production at the start of this year, but Alcock revealed that principal photography has flown by.
Milly Alcock recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and gave DC fans the biggest Supergirl update yet. During the interview, Milly Alcock confirmed that she has wrapped filming on the upcoming DCU movie. This doesn’t mean the entire production has finished, but Milly Alcock has filmed all of her scenes. Production on Woman of Tomorrow began shooting in January, which James Gunn announced with a BTS set photo on social media. Five months is a long production for a small movie. But, for a giant superhero blockbuster, it is relatively quick. It isn’t clear how much of the film is still left to shoot without Alcock.

David Zaslav described these four characters as “big asset builders and big differentiators.”

Jimmy Fallon then asked Milly Alcock how much she’s allowed to reveal about Woman of Tomorrow. As fans have come to expect from upcoming superhero releases, Milly Alcock has to remain as mute as Cassandra Cain. “I can say that I’m Supergirl,” the actress jokingly responded. Unlike Superman, which was plagued with leaked set photos, the production on Supergirl has been tightly locked down. Only a handful of blurry set photos have been revealed online, including a fake AI version of Jason Momoa’s Lobo.
‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ Releases in 2026

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be the DCU’s next big cinematic release, following Superman this July. As previously mentioned, Alcock will make her DCU debut in Superman, before flying off to helm her standalone movie next year. The trailers for Superman have kept Alcock’s Supergirl a secret. The latest trailer unveiled a new character called the Hammer of Boravia. The character’s identity hasn’t been revealed, but some fans believe it to be Supergirl wearing a gigantic suit of armor.
Alongside Mily Alcock, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will also bring Jason Momoa into the rebooted DCU. DC fans will already know Momoa as Aquaman. But the actor has been recast as the character that fans have wanted him to play for years: Lobo. The film also stars Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, an alien woman whom Supergirl helps avenge her parents. Directed by Craig Gillespie, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow releases in theaters on June 26, 2026.
