New ‘Star Wars’ Series In The Works From ‘Lost’ Showrunner & ‘Watchmen’ Writer Carlton & Nick Cuse

One series comes to an end, and another comes on deck. That seems to be the m.o. for Lucasfilm, which is potentially looking for their next adult-driven “Star Wars” series now that Tony Gilroy’s critically-acclaimed “Andor” begins its final season this week. To that end, Kathleen Kennedy and co. have hired father and son duo Carlton and Nick Cuse to work on a mysterious new “Star Wars” series for the company.

According to the trades, the pair is apparently in development on a new series. A prolific TV veteran, Carlton Cuse’s credits include showrunning “Lost,” working on Amazon’s “Jack Ryan,” “Bates Motel,” “The Strain,” and the new Netflix medical drama, “Pulse.”
Nick Cuse worked with his father’s “Lost” co-showrunner Damon Lindelof on “Watchmen” and “The Leftovers.” His recent credits include two shows we adored, “Station Eleven” and “Masters of the Air.”
While no plot details have been released, there are already rumors floating around that the series might revolve around the Knights Of The Old Republic era which is hundreds of years before the events of the original saga and thus would be the earliest “Star Wars” story in the film and TV timeline as the previously earliest show, the canceled, “The Acolyte,” was set only 100 years before the prequels.
Some fans have been clamoring for Gilroy to stick around at Lucasfilm once “Andor” is over, but the Oscar-winner has already made his intentions clear to move on and try other things.
