Lady Gaga Is One Award Away From EGOT Status

May 22, 2025

After nabbing a Sports Emmy on Tuesday night, Lady Gaga is only one award away from becoming an EGOT winner.

The “Abracadabra” singer earned her latest honor on Tuesday for her Super Bowl performance of “Hold My Hand,” the Oscar-nominated track from Top Gun: Maverick, earlier this year. She beat out fellow nominees, which included Prime Video’s Evolution of the Black Quarterback, HBO Max’s The Lionheart, ESPN+’s Noche UFC: For Mexico, For All Time and Netflix’s The Turnaround to secure the win. The Sports Emmys are administered by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Her Super Bowl LIX pregame performance was a surprise to viewers as it wasn’t announced ahead of time. During her rendition of “Hold My Hand,” Lady Gaga was joined by police officers, members of the U.S. military and more to pay tribute to the New Year’s Eve attack in New Orleans.

Notably, the latest legendary award lands Lady Gaga in a coveted list of stars close to EGOT status. In total, she has 14 Grammy Awards, an Oscar (for “Shallow,” which won best original song from A Star is Born) and now a Sports Emmy. The only coveted award Lady Gaga has left to add to her résumé is a Tony.

The 14-time Grammy Award winner joins the likes of Adele, Cynthia Erivo, Cher, Kate Winslet and more who are inching toward an EGOT.

Aside from her latest Sports Emmy, Lady Gaga has had quite the year. She released her seventh studio album, Mayhem, in February before announcing the record’s accompanying Mayhem Ball Tour, which will kick off in July. Lady Gaga also headlined Coachella this year and gave one of — if not the — best sets of the beloved two-weekend festival.
