Marvel Reveals Episode Details for the Disney+ Series

May 21, 2025

Marvel Studios’ Wonder Man has been a long time coming, and the studio has now offered MCU fans a much-needed update, with the episode count and episode runtimes for the series having now been revealed. Most of the attention during Disney’s upfront presentation was centered on the news that Krysten Ritter will return as Jessica Jones for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. However, footage from both Ironheart and Wonder Man was also highlighted. Wonder Man won’t debut until the end of 2025, in Marvel’s Phase 6, but some new details about what fans can expect from the show have emerged.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wonder Man will have eight 30-minute episodes. This marks the first half-hour live-action MCU series since She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and the third overall following WandaVision, as all three series are positioned as Marvel’s “half-hour comedies” instead of one-hour dramas.

Wonder Man will also consist of eight episodes, the first for a live-action MCU series, as the episode count tends to range from six episodes (Loki, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Ms. Marvel) or nine episodes (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, WandaVision, Daredevil: Born Again). The series is still on track to debut in December 2025, as was teased in the video Disney+ released of the streamer’s Marvel 2025 slate.

Wonder Man stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II

, formerly the DCU’s Black Manta, as the superpowered actor Simon Williams. The series is co-created by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The filmmaker has become a significant voice within the Marvel Cinematic Universe as he was previously set to direct Avengers: The Kang Dynasty before the project was scrapped and has since moved over to helm Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Cretton isn’t the only Shang-Chi connection in Wonder Man. Ben Kingsley will reprise his role as Trevor Slattery, a character originating in Iron Man 3 before returning in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Positioning Wonder Man as one of Marvel Studios’ more comedic shows, like She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, fits with the character of Simon Williams and is close to the comics. Focusing on the character’s history as an actor allows Wonder Man to act as Marvel Studios’ version of series like Extra, Entourage, and The Studio. A series that can satirize the movie and television industry through the lens of a superhero series. Wonder Man debuting in December raises some interesting questions.
It will be part of Phase 6, seemingly the first live-action project to follow The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and will likely air before The Punisher special presentation and Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. It is unclear if Wonder Man will tie into the MCU’s future plans for Avengers: Doomsday or Cretton’s own Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Simon Williams / Wonder Man is a high-profile Avenger in the comics, but will he find his way onto the Avengers roster in a future film? Rumors have circulated that Abdul-Mateeen II will reprise his role as Wonder Man in either Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars, but the role of the character as an actor suggests it might be a fun cameo as opposed to a major player in the action.
