British screenwriter Steven Knight has helped develop plenty of TV period pieces over the years, including “Taboo,” “Peaky Blinders,” and BBC One‘s 2019 take on “A Christmas Carol.” Now Knight teams up with BBC and FX Productions for another Dickens title, “Great Expectations,” with the mini-series to premiere on Hulu next month.

Olivia Colman headlines the limited series’ cast as Miss Havisham, with Fionn Whitehead as Pip. For those unversed in all things “Great Expectations,” Dicken’s thirteenth novel follows the coming of age of Pip, an orphan. The eccentric Miss Havisham incites much of Pip’s social education, no less due to Pip falling in love with her adopted daughter, the icy and beautiful Estella. But the world of possibilities Satis House introduces to Pip comes with both great expectations and piercing realities.
The six-part series also stars Shalom Brune-Franklin as Estella and Tom Sweet as young Pip. The show also stars Ashley Thomas, Johnny Harris, Hayley Squires, Owen McDonnell, and Laurie Ogden.  Trystan Gravelle, Matt Berry, and Rudi Dharmalingam round out the main cast.
Along with adapting Dicken’s novel, Knight serves as executive producer on “Great Expectations” with Tom Hardy, Ridley Scott, Dean Baker, David W. Zucker, Kate Crowe, and Tommy Bulfin.  Brady Hood and Samira Radsi share directing duties over the show’s six episodes.
Relive Pip’s story when “Great Expectation” hits Hulu in the US on March 26. Watch a trailer for the limited series below.
