A24’s ‘Friday The 13th’ Prequel Series Officially Casts Linda Cardellini As Original Killer, Pamela Voorhees
Mar 24, 2025
A24 has been pursuing a prequel series at Peacock set in the world of “Friday The 13th,” as “Crystal Lake” was poised to take place before a resurrected/full-grown Jason picked up where his mother left off and will explore the origins of the events surrounding his death as a young boy while attending summer camp.
Peacock has now confirmed to us that actress Linda Cardellini (“Green Book,” “The Founder”) has indeed landed the part of Pamela Voorhees after she was linked to the horror series back in February.

While Jason Voorhees has ultimately become the main face of the slasher franchise (not getting his iconic goalie mask until the third film and rocking a burlap sack as a mask in his first major appearance), Pamela, his mother was the original killer in the first film from 1980. She took revenge on the camp’s staff after her special needs son is left to drown in Crystal Lake when camp counselors were off screwing and getting high/drunk. The morality angle for the franchise was eventually used in the meta-horror film “Scream.”
After the exit of original showrunner Brian Fuller, the job was assigned to Brad Caleb Kane in August 2024, and franchise creator Victor Miller, who penned the original film and recently regained the film rights when they lapsed, remains onboard as an executive producer of “Crystal Lake.”
The next big step is populating the camp with actors to play staff members at Camp Crystal Lake for Voorhees to pick off with extremely inventive deaths, the franchise’s main calling card.
