Daisy Ridley’s First Major TV Role Will Be On Amazon’s Upcoming Family Thriller

Mar 2, 2023

Daisy Ridley‘s post-“Star Wars” career has gone okay so far, and the actress has potentially four films coming out this year. And that number may become five if the upcoming thriller “Magpie” with Ridley wraps shooting soon. Now it’s time to add another project onto Ridley’s list. Deadline reports that Ridley will star in Amazon‘s upcoming thriller series “The Better Liar,” led by “True Blood“‘s Raelle Tucker.

Based on Tanen Jones‘ novel of the same name, “The Better Liar” follows a woman who hires a lookalike to conceal her sister’s death and claim their shared inheritance, leading to a dangerous web of deception. Along with her starring role, Ridley will executive produce with series with Tucker, who also adapts Jones’ book. The series is part of Tucker’s current overall deal with Amazon that also includes the upcoming thriller “The Power.” Beyond “True Blood,” Tucker’s other TV credits include “Supernatural,” “Jessica Jones,” “The Returned,” and “Sacred Lies.”
As mentioned above, “The Better Liar” marks Ridley’s first major TV role. And beyond “Magpie,” based on a story Ridley helped develop, the actress also has “The Marsh King’s Daughter,” “Young Woman And The Sea,” and the stop-motion film “The Inventor” coming up. There’s also “Sometimes I Think About Dying” coming out for Ridley, which just premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January (read The Playlist’s review of that film here).
Expect “The Better Liar” to hit Amazon sometime next year.
