Stranger Things Star Wants To Be Part of the Final Season, Despite His Character Being Dead

Home TV News Stranger Things Star Wants to Be Part of the Final Season, Despite His Character Being Dead

Matthew Modine doesn’t believe his Stranger Things character is beyond making another unexpected return in season 5.

Netflix

One of the greatest rules of sci-fi and fantasy stories is that no one is ever dead. Even after they have been seen to die, there is always a chance they could return further down the line. This is something that Matthew Modine hopes for his Stranger Things character Dr. Martin Brenner, as he would love to return and be part of the fifth and final season of the Netflix series.

It should be noted that Brenner was assumed to have died in season 4, but this is not something new for Modine’s character, as he was also believed to have perished way back in the first season before his unexpected return last year. Now as Modine has pointed out, there could still be a way for him to cheat death one more time to make a shocking appearance in the conclusion of Stranger Things next year. He told Radio Times:
MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

“I hope that there’s some way to resuscitate Dr. Brenner and put him in season 5 because it would be wonderful to be part of the last season. Well we didn’t really see him dead – he was just lying there in the dirt. He’s survived the Demogorgon, he survived Vecna in episode 1 of season 4…”

Of course, Stranger Things’ creators, the Duffer Brothers, previously made it clear that unlike his season 1 “death,” the final scenes of Brenner in season 4 were “for real.” Obviously, that is always up for discussion. As Modine says, he could have somehow cheated death as the finale of season 4 did not return to address his character leaving the ending ambiguous.

Stranger Things Season 5 Will Be Filming This Year

Netflix

The final season of Stranger Things will tie up the story of Hawkins and the Upside-Down, and filming is set to take place later this year. David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper in the series, recently revealed that he would be filming the show’s final episodes while working on Thunderbolts for Marvel Studios. Recently, Harbour said that for him, he believes the time is right to end the journey. He said:

“What’s funny is when I started the show, I never ever wanted it to end. That’s why I love the show. I think it’s a great show, even if I wasn’t in it. Now we’re almost nine years from filming the first season, and I think it is time for it to end. But it is, of course, very bittersweet. You know, there’s a sadness there. But also, we’ve all grown up. It is time for us to leave that nest and try other things and different projects. And to let the Duffer Brothers try different things as well. I mean, those guys are so talented. I want to see what they come up with next. So it is bittersweet, but it’s definitely time.”

Stranger Things season 5 is expected to arrive on Netflix in 2024.
