Way Of Water VOD Release Date Revealed After Box Office Domination
Mar 11, 2023
The Avatar: The Way of Water VOD release date is now official after the movie dominated the box office since its December release. Serving as a sequel to his smash hit original film, James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water continues the Sully family saga, chronicling Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri’s (Zoe Saldaña) journey with a new oceanic clan of Na’vi after the return of human forces to Pandora. The sequel has been a massive success financially and now stands as the third highest-grossing movie of all time.

Disney has now revealed that Avatar: The Way of Water will be available to purchase on all major digital platforms starting on March 28.
The home release does not yet include a Disney+ or Blu-ray release just yet, meaning digital platforms Prime Video, Apple TV, Vudu, and Movies Anywhere will be the first and only way to experience the epic sequel outside a movie theater. The digital release of Avatar: The Way of Water will also include over three hours of bonus features, providing an exhaustive look at how the movie was created.

Avatar: The Way of Water’s VOD Bonus Features Revealed
Thirteen years elapsed between the release of the original movie and its sequel, and Cameron and his team spent much of this time crafting the world, characters, and story of Avatar: The Way of Water and its future sequels. Avatar: The Way of Water’s VOD bonus features will shed more light on this process, including such features as “Building the World of Pandora,” “The Undersea World of Pandora,” and “The Challenges of Pandora’s Waters.” These features will cover the sequel’s art and design process, in addition to walking audiences through the movie’s unique underwater performance capture.
Another batch of bonus features will focus solely on the characters in Avatar: The Way of Water, both new and returning. Features including “Pandora’s Returning Characters” and “Pandora’s Next Generation” will include interviews with stars Worthington, Saldaña, Stephen Lang (Quaritch), Sigourney Weaver (Kiri, Dr. Grace Augustine), Britain Dalton (Lo’ak), Jamie Flatters (Neteyam), and Trinity Bliss (Tuktiri). Spider, played by Jack Champion, will also get his own feature with “Spider’s Web,” highlighting the challenges of integrating the live-action character into the CGI world of Avatar: The Way of Water.
A host of additional bonus features will cover other aspects of pre-production, production, and post-production, including “Becoming Na’vi,” in which the central cast live off the land in Hawaii, and “The Sounds of Pandora,” which covers both Simon Franglen’s score and the film’s immersive sound design. Another, “Bringing Pandora To Life,” will serve as a deep dive into Weta FX and Avatar: The Way of Water’s jaw-dropping CGI. The digital release will also include other features diving into the casting process, stunts, and the movie’s deep connection to New Zealand.
