Marvel Studios can’t catch a break right now. After 2025’s theatrical releases disappointed at the box office, it now seems like the potential second season of the 92%-scored Disney+ series, Eyes of Wakanda, may now be off the table due to U.K.-based animation studio Axis Studios collapsing into administration and filing for bankruptcy. As per Forbes, Axis Studios, which created the incredible hand-painted, distinctive animation for the series that expanded the history of Wakanda, employed around 160 people in Glasgow, Scotland, all of whom are now out of employment. For Marvel Studios, it throws a spanner in the works of any future continuation of Eyes of Wakanda, even though such a thing was never certain after the series’ mixed audience reception. Eyes of Wakanda debuted in August and was immediately hailed by critics as a “storytelling triumph.” Considering the rough time many critics have given most of Marvel Studios’ releases in the last few years, it seemed like something was finally coming together, with many calling the series “a televisual equivalent of Marvel One-Shots, supplementing the story’s larger world.” However, audiences had a different view, seeing it as a “skippable” entry in the MCU. In many ways, this is exactly what Eyes of Wakanda is. Although some Disney+ TV shows set in the MCU have a larger purpose in getting characters from one place to another, such as WandaVision and Loki, others, like What If…? and Hawkeye are simply side-stories that are not on any essential viewing list for those who dip in and out of the franchise. This latter group is where Eyes of Wakanda sits, as can really be felt from its synopsis:
“Eyes of Wakanda follows the adventures of brave Wakandan War Dogs of the secret organization the Hatut Zeraze throughout history. In this globe-trotting adventure, they must carry out dangerous missions to retrieve Vibranium artifacts lost to the world.”

Will Marvel Studios Want to Deliver ‘Eyes of Wakanda’ Season 2?

Disney+

In 2018, Black Panther became one of the highest rated MCU movies ever, and added several big Oscar nominations to its name. While the sequel, 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, did not gain the same praise, it was one of the highest grossing Marvel projects of the Multiverse Saga. Eyes of Wakanda was meant to delve deeper into the history of the hidden nation, and it did that admirably. It is, however, unclear whether Marvel Studios would be pursuing a second season even before the news of Axis Studios’ collapse. Recently, there has been a huge pullback on Marvel content, and particularly the amount of Disney+ shows that were being lined up. The loss of the animation studio that helped create the series could be something that makes the decision about the show’s fate a simpler one. Regardless of what happens with Eyes of Wakanda, the Black Panther story is set to continue with a third movie from Ryan Coogler. The director, who was also behind this year’s horror hit Sinners, has previously shared vague details on Black Panther 3, including the casting of Denzel Washington. Although dates for any MCU project beyond Avengers: Doomsday seem to be in constant flux, it is believed that the third Black Panther movie will be released after Avengers: Secret Wars.

Neil Gaiman Assault Lawsuit Comes to an Abrupt End https://www.filmibee.com/neil-gaiman-assault-lawsuit-comes-to-an-abrupt-end/ Tue, 07 Oct 2025 09:21:54 +0000 https://www.filmibee.com/neil-gaiman-assault-lawsuit-comes-to-an-abrupt-end/
The sexual assault lawsuit brought against Neil Gaiman has come to an unexpected and swift end after a Wisconsin federal judge dismissed the case on the grounds that it should have been brought in New Zealand when the claimed offenses took place, and not in the U.S. This technical ending of the case on jurisdictional grounds means that the actual facts of the case, and any jury’s possible view and verdict are now not about it be heard, which really does not put Gaiman in a favorable position. After months of filings, the Sandman author’s legal team’s argument around the court case being held in the U.S. was the wrong route for the complaint has won over the judge. Judge James D. Peterson ruled that, based on the doctrine of “forum no conveniens,” which gives a judge the right to dismiss a case if another jurisdiction is better suited to hearing the case, the case should not proceed in the U.S. However, Peterson also made it clear that there has been no evaluation of the evidence in the case, and this is not a statement on whether the allegations are true or not. The case was brought by New Zealand citizen Scarlett Pavlovich, who filed in January 2025 claiming that Gaiman had sexually assaulted her multiple times in 2022 when she worked for him and his wife as a nanny. Gaiman has denied this, and other historical allegations made by other women. The alleged assaults happened in Gaiman’s home in New Zealand, but the fact that he also has a permanent residency in Wisconsin was not enough for the judge to believe that the case should be heard in the U.S. Judge Peterson’s statement said:
“The only connection that Wisconsin or the United States has with this lawsuit is that Gaiman has a residence in this state and he may live here currently. All of the relevant events occurred in New Zealand, Pavlovich is a New Zealand citizen, both parties were living in New Zealand during the relevant time, all relevant evidence and most potential witnesses are located in New Zealand. Gaiman and Amanda Palmer (Gaiman’s wife) now live in the United States, but both of them have agreed to accept service in New Zealand. Under these circumstances, it is clear that New Zealand is the more appropriate forum for resolving this dispute, so the court will dismiss the case without prejudice. If Pavlovich sues Gaiman in New Zealand, and he refuses to accept service there, Pavlovich may move to reopen this case.”

Neil Gaiman Could Be Brought Back to Court

The court case against Gaiman was dismissed without prejudice, which means that Pavlovich can now pursue the case again through a New Zealand court. However, that may not be the end of his U.S. court dealings, as if Gaiman refuses to be served in New Zealand, then the case in the U.S. could be reopened in the future. There is also currently a case outstanding in Massachusetts federal court against Gaiman’s wife, Amanda Palmer, which is potentially going to receive the same dismissal on similar grounds. The controversy around the claims against Gaiman sparked a quick demise of the author’s several TV and movie projects that were in the works or airing at the time the allegations were made. This included the third season of Good Omens being drastically reduced in length, The Sandman coming to an end after its second season (although its showrunner claimed this was always the intention), and other projects such as a movie based on his novel, The Graveyard Book, being abandoned entirely. This dismissal is not going to change studio sentiment towards the author’s work, and we shouldn’t hold our breath for more Gaiman adaptations being announced in the near future.

Netflix to Finally Stream “Steamy” & “Dramatic” Fan Favorite Historical Romance Series https://www.filmibee.com/netflix-to-finally-stream-steamy-dramatic-fan-favorite-historical-romance-series/ Mon, 06 Oct 2025 09:20:59 +0000 https://www.filmibee.com/netflix-to-finally-stream-steamy-dramatic-fan-favorite-historical-romance-series/
One of the best and steamiest historical romances in recent years is about to stream on Netflix. Outlander might be considered the definitive historical romance series, with the ongoing sequel series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, currently a smash hit on STARZ. While Outlander takes you to the Highlands of Scotland, one of the best and most underrated period romances is obsessed with the beautiful English coast. Those who’ve seen it are already obsessed, and those who are about to watch it need to prepare to binge-watch the entire thing, because Poldark will finally stream in the US on Netflix. Poldark is set to join Netflix’s streaming library on October 8. The hit British series is based on the series of novels by Wisnton Graham. The story was turned into a two-season drama back in 1975. But it’s the 2015 series that became a phenomenon. Created by showrunner Debbie Horsfield, the series starred Rivals’ Aidan Turner as Ross Poldark, with Eleanor Tomlinson as Demelza. The cast also includes Jack Farthing, Beatie Edney, Tristan Sturrock, Luke Norris, and Heida Reed. Set after the American Revolutionary War, Ross Poldark returns from America to rebuild his life in England. With a new business venture in mind, he creates a worrying number of enemies along the way, whilst also finding unexpected love. Poldark has everything you could want from a period romance, without all the weird time-travel parts of Outlander. The series ran for five seasons between 2015 and 2019, and won the BAFTA Audience Award in 2016.
‘Poldark’ Was a Major Hit in 2015

Eleanor Tomlinson and Aidan Turner in Poldark.British Broadcasting Corporation

We’ve already mentioned that Poldark was a big success in the UK, but the scale of its popularity was phenomenal. The series brought back the once defunct water cooler talk, as people couldn’t help but commit employee time theft by discussing the latest episodes while on the clock. The series as a whole boasts an excellent 89% Rotten Tomatoes score, with an strong 80% audience rating. Audiences adored Poldark from the first episode, calling it “a fund and steamy romance,” while another called it “dramatic, but never over-the-top.” According to critics, the first season is the strongest, as it holds a tremendous 91% critics rating. Audiences agree, rating it 89%. In fact, four of the five seasons have great audience reviews that put it within the 80% range. But, Season 5 still remains divisive among fans, as it holds a Rotten Tomatoes audience rating of just 50%. But critics still adored it, bestowing it with an 86% rating on the Tomatometer. Following Poldark, Aidan Turner has moved on to yet another raunchy series, that being Disney+’s Rivals. Also set in the English countryside, albeit several centuries later, Rivals starred Turner, David Tennant, and Alex Hassell as moguls of the TV industry in the ’80s all competing to come out on top. Turner’s role in the series as Irish TV star, Declan O’Hara, is less steamy as his turn in Poldark. But the show as a whole is notoriously R-rated, and Season 2 (which is currently in development) appears to be upping the ante.

Prime Video Unleashes Hellishly Epic Trailer for New Series of Streamer’s Biggest Surprise Hit https://www.filmibee.com/prime-video-unleashes-hellishly-epic-trailer-for-new-series-of-streamers-biggest-surprise-hit/ Sun, 05 Oct 2025 09:19:48 +0000 https://www.filmibee.com/prime-video-unleashes-hellishly-epic-trailer-for-new-series-of-streamers-biggest-surprise-hit/
The latest trailer for Prime Video’s hit series, Hazbin Hotel, teases an epic second season that will deliver on the cliffhangers left behind by Season 1 as well as adding even more catchy songs. Created by Vivienne Medrano, Hazbin Hotel is an adult-animated musical that centers on Charlie Morningstar (Erika Henningsen), the princess of Hell, who has opened a hotel with the hope of rehabilitation and giving the citizens of Hell a chance at redemption. While Charlie is joined by allies, her efforts also draw the attention of demons and angels who wish to keep the war between the two factions ongoing. Prime Video has now released the latest trailer for Hazbin Hotel Season 2, which offers audiences the best glimpse into the plot for the new season, one that picks up in the aftermath of Season 1’s finale as Charlie attempts to convince the citizens of Hell that they can now find redemption and enter Heaven. Meanwhile, both the angels in Heaven and demons in Hell are plotting their own retaliations against one another, one that could draw out an eternal conflict and get in the way of Charlie’s dream of making peace between the two dimensions. Hazbin Hotel Season 2 will debut on Amazon Prime Video with two episodes starting Oct. 29, 2025, with two episodes every subsequent week until November 19. See the trailer below:
Does The Future of Hell Belong to the Vees?

There are several exciting reveals in Hazbin Hotel’s latest Season 2 trailer. The biggest is the expanded role of The Vees, a trio of overlords whose names begin with “V” that are hoping to become the new rulers of Hell. Vox (Christian Borle), the television demon, looks to be taking center stage as the new season’s primary antagonist, one that draws him into conflict with both Charlie but also Alastor (Amir Talai), the radio demon who is squared off with Vox in Season 1’s epic song “Stayed Gone.” Season 1’s song “Finale” teased that “the future of Hell belongs to the Vees”, and that certainly looks to be true as Vox plans to lead an uprising against Heaven itself. One of the biggest cliffhangers left to be teased involves Charlie’s mother, Lilith, who was teased in the final scene of Hazbin Hotel Season 1. She is also heavily implied to be tied to Alastor’s role in the series, one whom the powerful demon is seeking to sever his obligations to. While no voice actor has been confirmed for Lilith, new additions to Hazbin Hotel Season 2 include musical icons like Liz Callaway, Alex Newell, and Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump voicing Abel. Hazbin Hotel proved to be a surprise success for Prime Video. Following its debut on the streaming platform on Jan. 19, 2024, the series soundtrack became a hit, earning nominations for Billboard Music Awards Best Soundtrack of 2024 and American Music Awards Favorite Soundtrack in 2025. The song “Poison” became a notable hit, landing at #14 on Billboard’s US Hot Rock & Alternative Songs. The fandom itself has exploded in popularity, with the characters from Hazbin Hotel becoming a staple for cosplay at various comic conventions. Expectations will certainly be high for Hazbin Hotel Season 2, but the trailer appears to deliver on everything fans loved about Season 1 and delve even deeper into the characters.

Netflix’s New Action-Packed ‘Yellowstone’ Replacement Gets a Release Date & Bloody First Look https://www.filmibee.com/netflixs-new-action-packed-yellowstone-replacement-gets-a-release-date-bloody-first-look/ Sat, 04 Oct 2025 09:18:47 +0000 https://www.filmibee.com/netflixs-new-action-packed-yellowstone-replacement-gets-a-release-date-bloody-first-look/
The streaming giant Netflix has returned with another Yellowstone replacement, and already looks like the most promising one yet. Featuring a stacked cast and crew, the streamer has officially unveiled a new action-packed Western that takes place in the early 1850s. Netflix has announced that The Abandons will premiere on December 4. The western drama, which hails from Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter, stars Gillian Anderson and Lena Headey, among many others. The show follows the strife between two “very different families,” each of which are headed by Anderson and Headey’s matriarchs, Constance Van Ness and Fiona Nolan, respectively. A series of events causes a collision course between the families, which we can presume will include a good helping of blood and secrets. You check out the first-look images below. In addition to Anderson and Headey, the cast of The Abandons includes Nick Robinson (Love, Simon), Diana Silvers (Ma), Aisling Franciosi (Speak No Evil), Lucas Till (MacGyver), Lamar Johnson (The Last of Us), and Natalia Del Riego (Promised Land). Kurt Sutter, known for his work on Sons of Anarchy, Mayans M.C., The Shield, and Southpaw, is finally back with a new series that promises to be a staple for Netflix for years to come. Read the official synopsis:
Set in Washington Territory in 1854, the series follows the matriarchs of two very different families: one of wealth and privilege, bound by blood; and the other a found family of orphans and outcasts, bound by love and necessity. The families find their fates linked by two crimes, an awful secret, a star-crossed love, and a piece of land with silver underneath. The collision echoes the American struggle of the haves and have-nots, in a place just beyond the reach of justice.

The First Chapter of ‘The Abandons’ Is a “Classic American Story”

Executive producer Chris Keyser has called The Abandons as a “classic American story” about families at war with each other on the frontier. The series explores the make-up of two vastly different kinds of groups that are connected by crime, lust and everything in between.
“This first chapter of The Abandons is a classic American story — the frontier, two families — both at war and in love with each other, a battle over who owns the land and who makes the rules. Smack in the middle of murder and revenge and a bit of illicit romance, we get to explore questions we never seem to get away from: What makes a family? How do you stay good in a bad world? And would you change who you are and what you believe in to protect what you love? But, in this case, we do it all through the eyes of Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson, as two widowed matriarchs battling to survive. And that, as they say, is really something to watch.”
Judging by the “first chapter” tease, it appears that Netflix has multiple entries planned ahead of schedule. This is no surprise, as the stacked cast and crew should be more than enough to get viewers to pop on the streamer come December 4.

Netflix Unveils First Look at New Spy Thriller Series That Promises to Be the Perfect Binge-Watch https://www.filmibee.com/netflix-unveils-first-look-at-new-spy-thriller-series-that-promises-to-be-the-perfect-binge-watch/ Fri, 03 Oct 2025 09:17:47 +0000 https://www.filmibee.com/netflix-unveils-first-look-at-new-spy-thriller-series-that-promises-to-be-the-perfect-binge-watch/
The first rule of going undercover is to never get attached. Unfortunately, it’s not a lesson that was learned by the lead of Netflix’s upcoming spy thriller. The streamer has now released our first look at what looks like an unrelentingly intense new series, which is due to debut later this month and promises to be the perfect white-knuckle binge-watch. Titled The Asset, the thriller series centers on a fledgling young agent who is tasked with going undercover to befriend a drug smuggler’s wife. But the closer she gets to her target, the more complicated her mission becomes. Netflix has now unveiled the first look at the series (which you can check out below), as well as a premiere date, with The Asset due to debut on the streaming platform on October 27, 2025. As well as undercover thrills, the series promises some action to go with it, with the first look teasing a gripping tale of paranoia and betrayal courtesy of directors Samanou Acheche Sahlstrøm and Kasper Barfoed. The Asset stars Clara Dessau, Maria Cordsen, Afshin Firouzi, Nicolas Bro, Soheil Bavi, Arian Kashef, Lara Ly Melic Skovgaard, and you can check out the official synopsis below…
“The Asset revolves around the new intelligence service agent, Tea, who goes undercover to infiltrate a brutal criminal environment that has eluded the grasp of the intelligence service for some time.
Adopting a completely new identity, Tea must befriend the criminal mastermind’s girlfriend, Ashley, to gather crucial intelligence. But as Tea gets closer to Ashley and witnesses the grim reality of her life within Miran’s controlling and criminal cobweb, doubts emerge about where her loyalties truly lie.”

At 6 Episodes, ‘The Asset’ Will Make a Thrilling Streaming Binge

Both the big and small screens are brimming with great undercover stories, and it will no doubt prove a challenge to bring something new and refreshing to the genre. However, in a statement, Conceptual Director, Samanou Acheche Sahlstrøm, is hoping to do just that, revealing in a statement that he was drawn to The Asset because of its exploration of “the complexities of identity and loyalty under extreme pressure.”
“I was drawn to tell this story because it explores the complexities of identity and loyalty under extreme pressure. Through Tea’s journey, we see how far someone is willing to go to do what they believe is right – also, when the lines between good and evil become blurred. I have always wanted to work on a crime series that puts its characters, their development and their relations to each other at the very center of the story. This is precisely what The Asset does.”
Once again, The Asset is now all set to debut on Netflix on October 27, 2025, and with just six episodes, should prove to be another captivating binge-watch from the popular streamer.

Forgotten ‘Supernatural’ Spinoff That Was Canceled After One Season Finds Redemption on Streaming https://www.filmibee.com/forgotten-supernatural-spinoff-that-was-canceled-after-one-season-finds-redemption-on-streaming/ Thu, 02 Oct 2025 09:16:48 +0000 https://www.filmibee.com/forgotten-supernatural-spinoff-that-was-canceled-after-one-season-finds-redemption-on-streaming/
Supernatural was undoubtedly one of the most popular TV shows in history, so it makes sense that The CW would want to try and capture lightning in a bottle once more with a spinoff series. After all, the show’s rabid fan base would certainly turn out in droves to help make it a hit, right? Wrong. Unfortunately, the short-lived prequel titled The Winchesters that focused on Sam and Dean’s parents failed to make much of an impact when it premiered back in 2022, but now, it’s finding redemption on streaming. Starring Meg Donnelly and Drake Rodger as Mary Campbell and John Winchester, The Winchesters was set in the 1970s. Narrated by Jensen Ackles – who played Dean in Supernatural – the prequel tells the story of how Mary and John met, fell in love, and got involved in hunting monsters. It’s a simple premise that was made way more complicated than it should have been thanks to the series taking place in an alternate universe within a multiverse that left a lot of fans scratching their heads at times. Holding just a 44% rating from viewers on Rotten Tomatoes, many of the comments call The Winchesters an “uninspired” series with “bad writing and bad acting.” Most agree that it doesn’t live up to the standards set by the original series. As such, The Winchesters was canceled after just 13 episodes. Now, it’s found new life on streaming, where it’s currently in the #7 spot on HBO Max via Amazon Channels via Flix Patrol. Check out the synopsis below:
“A prequel to the long-running series Supernatural, The Winchesters tells the epic, untold love story of how John Winchester met Mary Campbell and put it all on the line to not only save their love, but the entire world. When John returns home from fighting in Vietnam, a mysterious encounter sparks a new mission to trace his father’s past. In his journey, he crosses paths with 19-year-old demon hunter Mary, who is also searching for answers after the disappearance of her own father. Together, the two join forces to uncover the hidden truths about both of their families.”

Was ‘The Winchesters’ Really That Bad?

Meg Donnelly and Drake Rodger in The WinchestersThe CW

While fans may not have been able to agree on The Winchesters, critics went absolutely bonkers for the Supernatural prequel series. It holds a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with the consensus being that it was an engaging series that showed promise. Unfortunately, we’ll never know if it could have reached its full potential in later seasons, as The CW gave it the ax two months after the conclusion of the first season. The sad truth is that for Supernatural fans, The Winchesters just wasn’t a good series. Yes, we definitely saw glimpses of greatness during its short-lived life, but those moments were few and far between. Stacked up against the original show, it was a pale imitation that tried to do too much too fast. The chemistry between the two leads really wasn’t there, which made it hard for viewers to accept that they could be the same parents Sam and Dean spoke so highly of. All that being said, it’s definitely caught the eye of more than a few people thanks to its resurgence on streaming. Who knows? Maybe they’ll find something worthwhile in it to enjoy, but for the most part, we suspect its curiosity from new viewers more than anything else that’s driving up its numbers.

David Tennant Teases He Is “Much Worse Than Last Time” in Season 2 of His Raunchy Hit Series https://www.filmibee.com/david-tennant-teases-he-is-much-worse-than-last-time-in-season-2-of-his-raunchy-hit-series/ Wed, 01 Oct 2025 09:15:44 +0000 https://www.filmibee.com/david-tennant-teases-he-is-much-worse-than-last-time-in-season-2-of-his-raunchy-hit-series/
David Tennant joined a host of stars in the steamy Hulu/Disney+ series Rivals, which became a huge hit last year and is set to return for more rowdy 80s mayhem early in 2026. Although there are still several months until the new episodes are expected to roll out, Tennant has been teasing that his character is going be doing more “terrible things” in the expected second season. Rivals is based on the novel of the same name by British author Jilly Cooper, and is an unapologetically racy tale of greed, lust and stiff…upper lips. The series takes viewers back to the 1980s, in Cooper’s Rutshire, a generally quaint countryside area of England, where media mogul Tony Baddingham (Tennant) and “rival” Rupert Campbell-Black (Alex Hassell) bring their power-hungry feud to a head amid copious amounts of bedroom farce. While appearing at FanX Salt Lake City Comic Convention (via Collider) Tennant was mostly tight-lipped about the second season of Rivals, but he did offer one tease about how his character is going to be even more diabolical next time around. He said:

“All I can tell you about Season 2 of Rivals is that I do some terrible things. Terrible things! Much worse than last time!”

‘Rivals’ Is Adding to Its Cast for Saucy Seconds

Rupert holds a red letter in RivalsHulu/Disney+

If there is one thing that was never part of the original plan for Disney+ – at least for those who believe Disney to produce nothing but jolly, child-safe animated movies and the like – it was a raunchy bonk-busting adaptation of a Jilly Cooper novel. However, times change, and while the series airs on Hulu in the U.S. several other territories can flick between the raunchy antics at Rutshire and the latest kiddie-friendly animated offering from the House of Mouse. As well as the likes of Tennant, Danny Dyer, Aiden Turner, and Nafessa Williams, Season 2 of Rivals will not only be extending to 12 episodes – up from eight episodes in the first season – but also expanding its cast. It was announced earlier in the year that MCU favorite Hayley Atwell will be joining the show as Helen Gordon, the former wife of Campbell-Black, and Rupert Everett will play Helen’s husband, Malise. The pair join several newly announced guest stars, including Maxim Ays, Holly Cattle, Oliver Dench, Amanda Lawrence, Bobby Lockwood, Eliot Salt and Jonny Weldon. Rivals was a surprising hit in 2024, mainly because, unlike many adaptations of older novels, the series did not attempt to modernize its setting, and instead embraced the 80s-era of the original story. Season 1 scored an impressive 95% on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer, and 90% on the Popcornmeter. With Tennant’s comments, it looks like Season 2 will be offering up more of the same, and going off recent viewership-winning shows like The Hunting Wives, it seems like saucy stories with bonkers plotlines is exactly what the streaming public want.

James Gunn Reveals Why ‘Peacemaker’s Biggest Cameo Is Huge for the DCU https://www.filmibee.com/james-gunn-reveals-why-peacemakers-biggest-cameo-is-huge-for-the-dcu/ Tue, 30 Sep 2025 09:14:42 +0000 https://www.filmibee.com/james-gunn-reveals-why-peacemakers-biggest-cameo-is-huge-for-the-dcu/
This article contains spoilers for Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 6James Gunn reveals that the big Superman cameo in Peacemaker Season 2 has major implications for the DCU moving forward. In the sixth episode of Peacemaker’s sophomore season, Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo) visits Belle Reeve prison to meet with none other than Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult). Flag makes a deal with Luthor, stating that if he helps him track down Peacemaker and his dimensional portal, he will be transferred to a non-meta-human prison, specifically Van Kull Prison, located near Metropolis. On The Peacemaker Official Podcast, Gunn revealed how Lex Luthor’s guest appearance in Peacemaker Season 2 sets up the upcoming film, Man of Tomorrow, and might have major ramifications beyond that film for the entire DCU’s future. Gunn revealed that the scene was shot on the set of Superman, specifically on the days they were filming the Pentagon scenes, in which both Hoult’s Lex Luthor and Grillo’s Flag Sr. are present. Regarding the future of the DCU, and how Flag Sr.’s deal with Lex Luthor will play out, Gunn said:
“So, we have a really important moment, for not only Peacemaker, but the entire DCU, in that Rick Flag, the head of ARGUS, strikes a deal basically with Lex Luthor. In exchange for Lex Luthor finding where Peacemaker’s portal might be, he is going to move him from a prison with metahumans to a prison with no metahumans.”

Rick Flag Sr. Deal With Luthor Will Have Lasting Consequences on the DCU

Gunn has already confirmed his next DCU film will be Man of Tomorrow, which he has described as not a Superman sequel but something different. However, both David Corenswet’s Superman and Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor will appear, as comic art for the movies announcement showcased the two together with Lex Luthor wearing his power suit from the comics. Most signs point to the movie having Superman and Lex Luthor team up to combat a bigger threat, with fans speculating that it could be the long-awaited live-action feature film debut of Brainiac. While The Suicide Squad established the United States government’s willingness to use supervillains for its own gain, Rick Flag Sr.’s deal with Lex Luthor most likely will have the super genius manipulating the United States government. Lex Luthor might make himself such a vital aspect to agencies like A.R.G.U.S. that they offer him a certain amount of leniency, eventually leading him to either break out or be willingly let go, potentially becoming president, as Luthor did in the comics. In his narrow quest for revenge against Peacemaker, Rick Flag Sr. might have made a deal with the devil that could doom the world. Two episodes of Peacemaker remain, and following that will be Lanterns on HBO Max sometime in Spring 2026. That will then be followed by Supergirl and Clayface, with rumors circulating that Creature Commandos Season 2 could debut in late 2026 or early 2027. A Booster Gold series is also in development, which could potentially debut in 2027. Man of Tomorrow might be two years away, but there are plenty of DCU projects on the horizon, many that seem important to the larger story at play.

Netflix’s Crowd-Pleasing Horror Comedy Series Gets Surprising Season 2 Renewal https://www.filmibee.com/netflixs-crowd-pleasing-horror-comedy-series-gets-surprising-season-2-renewal/ Mon, 29 Sep 2025 09:13:42 +0000 https://www.filmibee.com/netflixs-crowd-pleasing-horror-comedy-series-gets-surprising-season-2-renewal/
Netflix has gained a somewhat unfair reputation as being the streamer most likely to cancel a series after a single season, even when a show seems to have been doing well in viewership. That is why their latest renewal has come as something of a surprise, considering the show in question has not even bothered the top half of the platform’s chart since its debut last week. The series is the new animated horror comedy Haunted Hotel, which features the voices of Will Forte, Eliza Coupe, Skyler Gisondo, Jimi Simpson, and Natalie Palamides among others. Created by Matt Roller, and with executive producers Dan Harmon and Steven Levy of Rick and Morty fame on board, the series has been hailed as a love letter to horror fans and certainly pleased audiences who tuned in to binge their way through the 10-episdoe first season. Haunted Hotel comes with a quite simple premise: a single mother and her two children run a hotel that is lacking in guests that are not ghosts. One of these spooks is also her estranged brother (Forte), who believes that the ghosts have plenty of great ideas about how the hotel should be run. The series has plenty of crazy storylines and more horror movie Easter eggs than any lover of the genre could wish for, and it seems that all of this has paid off with Netflix granting it a second season despite its seemingly lacking viewership volumes. Although it received a mixed response from critics, the series’ Popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes currently sits at an impressive 94%.
Is ‘Haunted Hotel’ a Hit on Netflix?

It is always difficult to gauge the success of a streaming show, as some shows with mixed to negative reviews (Emily in Paris immediately comes to mind) have been allowed to roll on for multiple seasons, while others such as The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, The Waterfront, and many more have been cut loose after a single season. Haunted Hotel’s Season 2 renewal is surprising for a couple of reasons. The series has been out less than a week, making the announcement incredibly quick compared to the weeks or months some shows must wait in order to discover their fate. The biggest factor in any renewal is usually a strong viewership, and that usually means a dominant place on the streaming charts. Haunted Hotel has yet to break into the streamer’s top three, and with the whole season being available to watch in one five-hour marathon, its inability to climb higher than fourth place in the chart (for one day) made it a surprising candidate for more episodes. However, there could be another explanation for the renewal, one that played out with HBO Max’s heavily panned Scooby-Doo series. Velma. Just like that show, it could be possible that the second season was made at the same time as the first and is already complete and waiting to air. This could mean that the performance of the series was irrelevant, and Season 2 would always be happening regardless. That being said, the audience-pleasing Season 1 reviews could mean that another season is what it needs to boost its fanbase and finally break out into the hit it clearly has the potential to be.

Liam Hemsworth Breaks Silence on Replacing Henry Cavill in ‘The Witcher’ https://www.filmibee.com/liam-hemsworth-breaks-silence-on-replacing-henry-cavill-in-the-witcher/ Sun, 28 Sep 2025 09:12:54 +0000 https://www.filmibee.com/liam-hemsworth-breaks-silence-on-replacing-henry-cavill-in-the-witcher/
Liam Hemsworth has finally broken his silence on replacing Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher. Cavill announced that he was leaving Netflix’s TV adaptation of the fantasy book series after three seasons in 2022. According to showrunner Lauren Hissrich, his exit was largely down to his desire to pursue other projects, leaving the titular role vacant for another actor to step in. That actor ended up being Hemsworth. He is now the show’s monster-hunting protagonist for the final two seasons, with the fourth chapter due to launch in October this year. However, the switch-up prompted an outcry from fans, which Hemsworth admits became difficult to brush aside, so he tried to shield himself from the backlash by avoiding going online. In his first interview since taking over for Cavill as the White Wolf, Hemsworth recalled the moment the recasting news broke. “There was quite a bit of noise and I had to put that aside. It started to become a distraction,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “I dealt with that sort of thing in the past a lot and, you know, at the end of the day, I love making movies and I love telling stories and acting. I just don’t want any of that to affect my way of telling the story that I’m trying to tell. I jumped off social media and the internet most of last year.” Hemsworth asserted in the same interview that he is a “massive fan” of Cavill and “what he did in the show” for the first three seasons. It would seem that the feeling is mutual between the two actors, as Cavill previously called his replacement “fantastic” and wished him well in the role. “As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men,” Cavill stated on Instagram at the time. “Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find.”
‘The Witcher’ Season 4 Release Date: When Is Liam Hemsworth’s Official Debut?

Henry Cavill and Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia in The WitcherNetflix

The fourth season of The Witcher will premiere on Netflix on Oct. 30, more than two years after the previous chapter. Hemsworth noted that the first episode of the new season would pick up shortly after the dramatic conclusion of the third season, which marked Cavill’s final outing as the character. It will continue the story of Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri, but the White Wolf will be struggling as he embarks on his solo journey amidst the ongoing war. “The beginning of Season 4 is pretty close after the battle with Vilgeforz,” he told EW, before elaborating further on where audiences will find his character when the story initially begins:
“He’s not in a good place at that point, physically. He’s severely injured. Mentally, he’s dealing with things that he’s not used to, which is self-doubt and this frustration. Now all of a sudden, you’re seeing the very human side to this person, but what you’re also seeing is the determination to fix it.”
A trailer for The Witcher Season 4 debuted online in September, but the reaction from fans over the recasting of Geralt remained divisive in the aftermath of the footage. People instantly made side-by-side comparisons of Hemsworth and Cavill and described the change as “jarring.” A few even vowed to not watch the rest of the series unless Cavill was reinstated in the role. However, some fans voiced a willingness to give Hemsworth a chance and hoped that his performance might be able to overcome the resistance. Whether or not that happens remains to be seen, but the series has already been renewed for a fifth and final season, regardless of what people think of Hemsworth in the lead role, which means he still has time to win people over.

‘Game of Thrones’ Star Refuses to Promote New Series After Jeffrey Epstein Revelation; Donates Fees to Charity https://www.filmibee.com/game-of-thrones-star-refuses-to-promote-new-series-after-jeffrey-epstein-revelation-donates-fees-to-charity/ Sun, 28 Sep 2025 07:35:30 +0000 https://www.filmibee.com/game-of-thrones-star-refuses-to-promote-new-series-after-jeffrey-epstein-revelation-donates-fees-to-charity/
As Game of Thrones’ Margaery Tyrell, Natalie Dormer was surrounded by some unsavory characters, but a connection between her new series and the very real sex offender Jeffrey Epstein has seen the actress refuse to promote the show and donate all the money she made from her role in it to charity. The Lady, which is a production by The Crown producers Left Bank and will air on ITV and BritBox, stars BAFTA-winning How to Have Sex actress Mia McKenna-Bruce as Jane Andrews, the former aide to the Royal Family who was convicted of murder. Dormer plays the role of Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, while Outlander’s Ed Speleers plays Thomas Cressman, Andrews’ former partner who she was convicted of murdering in 2001. The cast is rounded out with Philip Glenister, Claire Skinner, Laura Aikman, Ophelia Lovibond, Mark Stanley, Daniel Ryan and Sean Teale. Following the publication of an email once sent to Epstein by Ferguson, in which she apologized to her “dear friend” for disowning him. In a statement (via Variety) Dormer issued a statement about how she will not be promoting the series.
“When I agreed to take the role in The Lady, I knew portraying the script’s Sarah Ferguson would require nuance. People are layered, their journeys are full of highs and lows, and as an actor, my job is to lean into those elements and bring them to life with honesty and empathy. Since completing the project, new information has come to light that makes it impossible for me to reconcile my values with Sarah Ferguson’s behavior, which I believe is inexcusable. For that reason, I will not be taking part in the promotion of the project.
“In keeping with my commitment to the well-being of children, I have donated my entire salary from this project to the National Association for People Abused in Childhood and the Centre of Expertise on Child Sexual Abuse (hosted by Barnardo’s).”

Jeffrey Epstein’s Presence is Still Being Felt 6 Years After His Death

Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich Netflix

The case of Jeffrey Epstein did not end with his conviction on numerous sex offenses, or even with his subsequent death in prison. Instead, the story only began there, as those who had been friends with Epstein, or associated in other ways, scrambled to find a way to explain away their connections to the convicted criminal. Over the years, there have been many attempts to have files held on Epstein and the people who he hosted on Little St James, the place often dubbed Epstein Island, which was used for underage sex trafficking operations while under the disgraced financier’s ownership. Reportedly containing damning evidence about many high-profile celebrities and politicians, the files have so far not been made public, which has led to questions being asked by many. For her part, Sarah Ferguson’s limited connection to Epstein was enough for several children’s charities to sever ties with her in light of the recent email publication. Her spokesperson said that she “really regretted the association” with Epstein, and added that the email released last week was sent in order to “counter legal threats” made by him.
